Canada, USA, Canada, USA, Mexico
Our plan is to head south out of Quebec towards Burlington, then ferry across Lake Champlain to New York. My brother Greg, his wife Janet, and their two children Sydney and Lila will take the ferry across with us. It will be their first bike tour as we cross the Adirondack park, meet up with the Erie Canalway continuing on to Niagara Falls and Buffalo.
From here we will sadly say goodbye to the Vermont Conks and continue on to Ontario, passing through Hamilton, Kitchner/Waterloo, the Georgian Bay, Sault Ste. Marie. Here we will trade our bikes and gear for a rental car and make our way back to Bromont, Quebec for Julie’s sister’s wedding ceremony August 22.
Once back in Sault Ste. Marie, we’ll saddle up again and return to the USA. We hope to be in Saint Paul, MN by mid September where we will meet up with some friends and spend some time off the bikes. Our next major stop will be in Austin, TX where we will spend Thanksgiving with more dear friends. This will be our refuelling stop before heading into Mexico, and beyond.
Our next stopping point will be Guadalajara, Mexico. Once again we will meet up with some dear friends who live there and spend some rest and relaxation with them. Ideally, this would be around Christmas or New Year’s Eve. From here we will bike towards the pacific coast and follow the coastline south towards Oaxaca, Chiapas, and the Yucatan.
Return trip back to Quebec
To be determined at a later date. Here are some options we’re considering:
- A repositioning cruise back to Fort Lauderdale, FL from Colon, Panama and then bike north to Quebec
- A flight to Fort Lauderdale, FL or New York from Panama City, Panama and then bike north to Quebec
- Take a ferry to Cartagena, Colombia and fly back to the U.S. (Miami or New York) or fly direct to Montreal
We’re also open to suggestions. Got any?
